hm. what to say

I could see that a bit of effort went into putting this together, tho I didn't like it much. I suppose its kinda fun. It got repetative and was rather messy. I was rather put off by your message in the notes telling people to get F'd. I don't know if it was actually meant to make any sense- it certainly didn't.I suppose you would like me to Quit Complaining, so I will stop now!
I've seen much worse.

LordZeebmork responds:

Well, I've seen about 893265893256834 reviews that just say "therz no preloder so it sux".

its actually good!

actually.

Good sound, OK animation. mildly funny. Actually properly lit, unlike a lot of claymation on NG.

BlakTornado responds:

Hahaha

thanks for your review! :D

very good

Very good art. good animation. , good sound and music.Nice beginiing to story.

What is an Outbreak? You seem to be using the word in some connotation I don't know. You can have an outbreak of malaria, but not, as far as I know an Abandoned Outbreak.

The voices aren't silly because you don't have a deep voice, they are silly becuase of the weird accent. I assume they are intended to be English, I've heard worse. This series has potential. Maybe you should get VA's now for the rest if you are not happy with your own voice.

Marcomatic responds:

I can't tell u what the outbreak consisted of but it definitly didn't have anything to do with a virus :D

Cheers for the review :D i appreciate it

not my scene

Some good graphics I suppose, and I like the music, the sounds are OK and I liked the gun at the camera image. however, the subject matter is just Madness with slugs.

Good enough, again

This is obviously quite a project to take on. Although, once you have the format and the basic symbols, I suppose its not too hard to do. the tenxt at the end could do with a bit of editing, but its OK.
I like the somewhat humourous graphics, they lighten the whole thing. Glad to see the walls of Troy today. I like the idea of showing it with the Classical background like a picture on a greek pot!

bsmylie responds:

Most of the Books have been done in different styles. I couldn't spend 8 years using the same set of symbols or characters. Although, I must admit, I have almost used up all the warrior types available to the public from Greek pottery painting collections online. I changed the format a lot of times. I guess I did 500 x 450 for Book 22 because I was too exhausted to change the default format.

This was better than 5

Because although the male voice for Hector was good I couldn't hear it.

bsmylie responds:

Susan did all the voice. She manipulated the files for the male parts in that scene, by slowing them down in SoundForge. I may have goofed it up a bit with timing because; he is dying with a spear stuck into his neck which didn't cut the vocal cords or flood his throat with gurgling blood. My presumption about "the place which brings quickest death" is that it is the jugular. I find it hard to imagine a heavy spear through Hektor's neck severing the jugular which would still allow him to speak his last words but; that's the way the text comes down to us.

OK but

The voice of Hector is too difficult to hear. I really couldn't understand it. Once I read the text at the end I went back and could make it out. the voice is good enough, its just not loud enough. Otherwise the thing is OK. I like such things as the transformation in it. I think it would be better if the city walls were in the background.

bsmylie responds:

I guess it isn't that obvious but, all the action is taking place on a Greek pot. The top and bottom decorations are what are called "registers" on which the action painted on a pot takes place. Pottery is about the only narrative visual art we have from Greece. Some pots are like early animations, as the pot was turned in the viewer's hands, a narrative takes place; or, at least, aspects are reviled. It was sort of like the "cartoon" stories embedded in Egyptian hieroglyphic texts which inspired Greek pottery painters. The only figures that were developed enough to use and animate come from the Classical Greek era maybe 500 - 325 B.C. (Homer lived (if he actually existed) around 800 - 900 B.C)).

At the time the Greeks laid siege to Troy; the Greeks didn't decorate their pottery with figures; it was a pottery era called "proto-geometric" with lines scratched into it. At around Homer's time stick figures were being painted on pots with the bottom registers performing as the ground. Like in Egyptian art there was no background.

The relative volume of the music to the narration... my mistake, I guess. All I can say is turn your speaker or headset volume higher... it might be your equipment too.

Well done in finding something original...

...that was still very much on the subject of Madness.

Good sound, voices etc.

DrClay responds:

wasnt it suppost to be on the subject of Madness?

OK.

The soldier one was MUCH better than all the rest put together. I passed it for that alone. I think I would have given it five stars if you had submitted it alone, whereas with all the drug references and so-so stuff, the sub barely passes.

Not meaning to be funny, but I don't think you really need to tell us that you are an amateur (thats how its spelt) in the notes. You might take that out.

seriously, though, if you want to redo the soldier one, improving it to the best you can and resub on its own as a short, I think you could do better than this score. The idea is worth 3/5 at least with good animation and art.

Pkay responds:

Well thanks for the review. But yes you're right, the soldier one came out by far my favorite and I was really surprised with how well the outcome was. Yeah, some of the others were thrown in with a lot less effort, but I just get really impatient sometimes.

Good

All good quality.
neat and funny.
I liked the tiny flying insect.
spell reviwe/review at the end.

MarkArandjus responds:

Oh yes, thanks!
It's my dislexia, the e always fucks me up :S

And I'm glad details like that insect pay off :D
Thanks for reviewing!
