Mirror songV2

"weird, horror music!"

submission: Mirror songV2
date: April 25, 2007

I could imagine this music in The Ring or something, but its a bit too short. Not one of your better ones. Needs more too it- I like your other reviewers suggestion of adding some 'real' music/song to it so there is a pattern which this distorts.

Author's Response:

mmkay. I'm working on v3 now. ^_^

Kheni - "Don't Know"

"Got potential for Flash"

date: April 17, 2007

Following the success of Kim Chill in my quiz, I am exploring some more of your work, with a view to maybe using some of it in future subs. As well as being nice music it has the advantage of being original in that none of your music has been used before! This music has a sense of adventure and progression.

Author's Response:

Would be great if people found our shit and used it in their shit.
2 shits combined makes one great son of an onion shit. :)

When I dream

"Sweet sounding stuff"

submission: When I dream
date: April 8, 2007

As ever, your voice sounds great. As you say, its not really finished yet. I want you to wrok on this one so I can find a submission for it. At the moment the voice puffs on the microphone in a couple of places and the sound has to fade smoothly out so it can loop smoothly. Mostly we use loops of sound so they don't take up too much memory, so you have to make them loop well for us to use them. Nice work, though. PM me when you have finished this.

will do, ice. ^_^

Dragon 2 (i think)

"Don't like it, hardly music"

submission: Dragon 2 (i think)
date: March 24, 2007

Sorry, pal. You must have know someone wouldn't like this rough scratchy sound and that someone is me.
If you take your music seriously and want your crew to be respected, then don't put things in your notes like 'found this and dumped it on' or 'Is this the right file?'
Check your music carefully and make it right BEFORE you present it to the judgement of the world. If you don't respect us we won't respect you. We don't want to wade through piles of crap and experiments.
All DS submissions are checked out by the DS before being given the DS in the title, so there are less mistakes and no vagueness about it.
You guys have ability. Organise yourselves and keep up your own standards.

Author's Response:

It was the wrong file!

River remix

"Is this Trance?"

submission: River remix
date: January 28, 2007

I think it would need a beat for Trance. Its Ambience. Its OK stuff. Maybe good for dreamlike images.

Thanks ice! ^_^

"Has potential but..."

submission: harp whales
date: November 19, 2006

I don't like the gaps/sudden changes in it. You must be able to sort this thing out. It sounded nice, then all went wrong.

Author's Response:

yeah...I added a piece to it before I lost my studio...and now it sounds a bit choppy.

stairwell song

"Hmm."

submission: stairwell song
date: November 19, 2006

Beautiful sound, of course, but you overuse the echo. It comes into a lot of your stuff, I think too much. With good equipment you can vary it quite a bit, I don't know what you use to record your stuff. In this case, it means that I cannot hear the lyrics, which with a title like that, one would definately want to hear what its about. How about uploading a version without the echo. Its the most interesting title you've got here.

Author's Response:

it's based on where I record, in a stairwell, on the seventh floor.
I'll have to upload something without echo now...

angels glory--

"Great sound!"

submission: angels glory--
date: November 19, 2006

This is more like it! Your beautiful voice used to its potential. This is a sound we could get lost in! Sit back and relax and let the mind wander.
Its very usable in the right context- You sound like a whole choir! I picture stained glass windows, swirling patterns of colour, mists... good stuff.

Author's Response:

^_^ it was inspired by an old church song.

sirens[demo]

"Nice sound- possibly usable"

submission: sirens[demo]
date: November 19, 2006

This one is really the sort of generally usable, atmospheric thing that should find a home in someone's submission.

What are the little background sounds though- the creaks that sound like church doors opening!?

Author's Response:

the creaks are the doors to the stairwell, someone walked in while I was recording, and it sounded cool so I left it in.
